Expanding End-of-Life Options in Minnesota Morning Meeting
Thursday, March 10 @ 9:45 am - 11:30 am
This event has passed, but you can view Thoman’s presentation on LWVE YouTube.
The Minnesota End-of-Life Options Act, modeled after the Oregon Death With Dignity law, is a bill to authorize medical aid in dying. If enacted, it would give terminally ill adults of sound mind the option to receive medication to self-ingest for a peaceful death if their suffering became intolerable. The option currently is available in ten states and the District of Columbia. LWV Minneapolis is seeking concurrence in 2022 with the LWV Utah position. Using the LWV Utah 2016.01.19-Death with Dignity document, and an Addendum to Utah Study, the LWV End-of-Life Option Committee will provide an overview of the topic, summarize the available data, and answer questions. Please join us! The speaker will be Dr. Rebecca Thoman (LWV Minneapolis), Director, Compassion & Choices Doctors for Dignity.
