Local Option Sales Tax on the Ballot

Join LWVE on Thursday morning, October 13 to learn about the proposed Edina local sales taxEdina City Manager Scott Neal and Parks and Recreation Director Perry Vetter will explain the details of the local sales tax, which is on the ballot for the November 8 election.
In November, Edina voters will vote on two separate questions, choosing whether to allow the City to raise money through a local sales tax to fund $21.6 in infrastructure improvements to Braemar Park and $17.7 million for the development of Fred Richards Park. The authorized tax can only be for one half of one percent (0.5%) and for no longer than 19 years.

Park and Recreation Director Perry Vetter

Neal has been the Edina City Manager since 2010 and has more than 30 years experience as a local government chief executive officer. He is on the board of the Municipal Legislative Commission and has served as the president of the Minnesota City/County Management Association. Vetter became Edina Parks and Recreation Director in 2019 and oversees programming, park maintenance and forestry, recreation enterprises and Edina Liquor operations. Before that he served as the Assistant City Manager and Director of Administrative Services for the City of Minnetonka.
