WWI and the Suffrage Movement
April 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
By the time the United States entered World War I, the fight for women’s suffrage was well underway. In some states, women had already been granted full suffrage rights prior to the outbreak of war. But what was happening here in Minnesota? Did the War help or hinder the suffrage movement? Historian Rebecca Guetter will examine the impact of the Great War upon the right to vote and will discuss the strategies used to achieve full voting rights for women. View unique suffrage items from the collections of the Edina Historical Society and discover how Minnesotans viewed the issue of women’s suffrage.
