6:30 pm Professor Timothy R. Johnson, Associate Chair, Dept. of Political Science, University of MN and Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Political Science and Law, will speak on the Appointment of U.S. Supreme Court Justices: Past and Present.
The stakes just keep getting higher for US Supreme Court nominations! How does our current politically-charged process compare with nominations of the past? Has the Senate ever refused to consider a President’s nominee, as happened with President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland? Prof. Johnson is an expert on the US Supreme Court and an engaging speaker. He will share his insights, including thoughts on the nomination process for Neil Gorsuch and what the future may hold.
