Edina Sales Tax

Thursday, October 12 @ 9:45 am - 11:30 am

Join LWVE on Thursday, October 12 for the October Morning Meeting to hear Edina City Manager Scott Neal discuss the sales tax referendum that Edina citizens will vote on this November. Neal has served as Edina’s City Manager since 2010. In June of this year, Neal was elected to a three year term on the board of the League of Minnesota Cities.

In July, the Edina City Council approved a referendum for this November’s election that asks Edina voters to decide whether to use collections from the City’s half-percent sales tax to invest $25.3 million to expand Braemar Arena and complete other major improvements at the facility. If approved by the voters, the South Rink at Braemar Arena would be demolished to allow the building of two new ice rinks. Other major upgrades include the construction of a safer drop-off and pick-up area, a new and larger lobby and additional parking.

Edina City Manager Scott Neal will explain the planned upgrades to Braemar Arena and the financial impact the referendum will have if passed. He will also answer questions from those attending the presentation.
